A bespoke Formula 1 helmet, created in partnership with Disney and signed by 20 drivers from the 2026 grid, has raised £151,000 for Make-A-Wish International. The helmet, known as 'Fuel the Magic,' was sold through F1 Authentics, a platform managed by Memento Exclusives.
Designed by Bret Iwan, who provides the voice for Mickey Mouse, and Disney’s global creative director Bobby Kim, the helmet features a black base. It has red and yellow accents and Mickey Mouse artwork. The proceeds are directly funding Make-A-Wish International. They are working to grant wishes to children with serious illnesses.
Barry Gough, CEO of Memento Exclusives, said the company was honored to be entrusted with the project. He added, 'We are incredibly proud of the response from bidders worldwide. The buyer has collected not only a memorabilia icon but also helped an essential cause.'
Auction Records Shattered
The winning bid of £151,000 sets a new benchmark for auction sales of unworn replica F1 helmets. It also sets a new record for the highest single charitable item sold through F1 Authentics. This surpasses Max Verstappen’s race-worn overalls from the 2023 Canadian Grand Prix. Those sold for £112,000.
Future of the Design
Fans who missed the auction can still see the helmet. A second identical helmet will be on public display at the D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event in Anaheim, California, from 14-16 August.
