The essentials
  • Registration for the 2026 NAGT Series is now open.
  • The event will be held in Camotes Island for the first time since 2017.
  • It features triathlon, aquathlon, and duathlon disciplines with events on October 24 and 25.

2026 event returns on a bigger scale

The 2026 National Age Group Triathlon (NAGT) Series is set to return to Camotes Island. Registration is now open for competitors nationwide. This marks the first time in almost a decade that the race will be held on the island. The 2017 edition was the last one before a long hiatus. The event will feature a mix of experienced and new athletes. This should make for a competitive and exciting race.

The main triathlon event, which is the highlight of the competition, will be held on October 25. Athletes will also have the chance to participate in the National Age Group Duathlon and Aquathlon on October 24. These events will cater to participants of all ages, with junior and adult divisions available, ensuring a diverse and inclusive competition.

Partnership and tourism focus

The return of the NAGT Series to Camotes Island is made possible through an ongoing partnership. This is between the Triathlon Association of the Philippines (TRAP) and the Cebu Provincial Sports Commission (CPSC). Dr. Rhoel Dejaño is the chairman of CPSC. This collaboration aims to make the island a key location for endurance sports. It also seeks to boost sports tourism in the region. The race will attract top athletes. These include members of the national triathlon team and the youth national team. They will compete on the pristine beaches of the island.

A weekend of racing and adventure

Beyond the competitive aspect, the event promises to be a memorable experience for participants. Athletes will enjoy not only the thrill of the races but also the island's natural beauty and welcoming communities. Organizers have highlighted the combination of racing, camaraderie, and adventure that attendees can expect from the weekend. With early registration encouraged, athletes are being urged to secure their spots before they fill up, ensuring a full and successful event.

Camotes Island has well-paved roads and tranquil communities. It also has stunning white-sand beaches. The island is considered an ideal setting for endurance sports. It previously hosted the NAGT Cebu Leg in 2017. The upcoming event will build on that success. Dr. Dejaño has met with mayors from the island's four municipalities. These are San Francisco, Poro, Tudela, and Pilar. They discussed planning the championships and exploring future sports development on the island.
