Back in May, Apple introduced a new Apple Maps feature in iOS 26.5 known as ‘Suggested Places.’ This tool provided users with two location-based recommendations in the search screen, drawing from trending locations and the user’s recent search history.
The feature was particularly useful for those planning trips. For instance, someone researching a vacation spot would start seeing tailored suggestions that matched the location they were exploring. While many users appreciated the addition, some, like a 9to5Mac writer, noted that the limit of only two recommendations made it feel a bit too restrictive for daily use.
Apple quickly took note and improved the experience in iOS 27, released later this year. The updated version keeps the two main suggestions front and center, but now users can scroll left or right to reveal more. During testing of the beta version, as many as 10 suggestions could be accessed in a single view.
According to a 9to5Mac writer who tested the feature, this enhancement is a clear winner. It boosts the functionality of Apple Maps without any drawbacks. With just a swipe, users can now discover new local spots or plan future travel destinations.
In addition to the expanded Suggested Places feature, iOS 27 includes a range of other Apple Maps enhancements. While 9to5Mac has covered those in detail elsewhere, many users are already calling the improved Suggested Places one of the standout updates.
