The third game in La Familia's three-game series against The Ville was a back-and-forth affair. After dropping the second game at Louisville, La Familia faced a must-win situation at Memorial Coliseum Wednesday night.
Shift in momentum
The Ville came out strong in the first half, building a 21-13 lead in the first quarter and taking a 30-25 edge into halftime. But La Familia's defense kept it within reach, setting the stage for a second-half turnaround.
In the third quarter, La Familia opened with an 8-2 run. Archie Goodwin led the charge, scoring on a floater and hitting a 3-pointer to give La Familia its first lead of the night. With a seven-point advantage heading into the fourth quarter, the Cats had control.
Elam Ending drama
The Elam Ending target score was set at 63, forcing both teams into a frantic final stretch. La Familia’s defense limited Montrezl Harrell's impact, and Goodwin knocked down the final shot to seal the 63-57 victory and send the home crowd into a frenzy.
Goodwin’s return after missing the first two games was pivotal. His 22 points not only carried La Familia through the third quarter surge but also provided the clutch finish in the final minutes.
