In a game that turned decisively late, Austin FC scored twice in the final seven minutes to beat the stumbling Seattle Sounders 3-1 at Q2 Stadium. The win halted Austin’s three-game slide and handed the Sounders their fourth straight defeat. Ilie Sánchez opened the scoring in the 12th minute with his first goal of the season, assisted by Besard Sabović.
Seattle’s Paul Rothrock equalized in the 26th minute with an unassisted goal, his fifth of the year and a new personal best. But the momentum swung decisively in Austin’s favor in the 86th minute when Myrto Uzuni capitalized on a slick one-two with rookie Ervin Torres to restore the lead.
Uzuni has now scored six times in 2025, doubling his 2024 tally in just 14 matches. Moments later, he set up Torres for a chance that led to Christian Ramírez’s 89th-minute insurance goal, effectively ending Seattle’s chances.
Torres, 18, made his first meaningful impact of the season in his third appearance, collecting his first two career assists. Meanwhile, Austin goalkeeper Brad Stuver made two saves, while Andrew Thomas recorded three stops for the fading Sounders.
The result continues a brutal stretch for the Sounders, who dropped to 7-5-3 and are coming off a 5-1 home loss to the Portland Timbers. In the final moments, Seattle’s Jackson Ragen was shown a second yellow and sent off, deepening their defensive woes.
Austin will travel to Houston next, where it will look to build off its first win in over a month. Seattle faces the Philadelphia Union in a must-win scenario for its struggling offense.
