Europe faced a sharper reduction, with output falling from 968 terawatt-hours to 759 terawatt-hours, representing a 22% drop in a decade. U.S.

The U.S. Maintains Leadership

The United States remains the world's leading nuclear electricity producer, generating 826 terawatt-hours in 2025. This accounts for 29% of the global total. However, U.S. output has remained nearly unchanged since 2015, when it produced 839 terawatt-hours. In contrast, China's nuclear power generation has grown from 171 terawatt-hours to 485 terawatt-hours over the same period, at an average annual growth rate of almost 11%.
