Davide Frattesi’s time at Inter may soon end. The midfielder, who once held promise in Serie A, has been sidelined in recent weeks as manager Cristian Chivu looks elsewhere for his midfield options. That growing bench time has led to whispers of transfer, with Juventus and Roma both circling and a concrete offer yet to materialize.
Inter is asking around €30 million for Frattesi, who was born in 1999 and still has time to prove himself in the league. The midfielder, however, has always preferred to remain in Italy, making a move to Inter’s rivals more likely than one abroad.
Roma, in particular, may return to the table. The club’s interest could deepen if Manu Koné leaves, and Frattesi’s return to his hometown would add to the allure. Juventus, meanwhile, has roots with Frattesi through Giovanni Carnevali, who first recruited him from Roma’s academy, and Luciano Spalletti, who worked with him on the Italian national team.
While interest from abroad, most notably Nottingham Forest, has remained steady, the midfielder’s heart seems to remain in Italy. Forest came close to a deal in January but were not successful. Their return in the summer may not matter if a domestic move opens.
Inter could see a swap deal involving Koné or other players if talks with Roma progress. Juventus, too, has a case to make, with their history and coaching staff’s trust. Frattesi’s final destination may rest on which offer feels most like a return to his roots.
