Drug manufacturers have two years to move their production to the United States, as per the new rules. Trump warned that those who fail to meet this deadline would face the increased tariffs. Part of broader pressure on the pharmaceutical industry
This move is the latest in a series of actions aimed at reshaping U.S. drug manufacturing. Earlier in the year, Trump announced a 100 percent tariff on brand-name patented medications, which he plans to implement gradually. The policy includes exceptions for companies that already produce in the U.S. or those covered by specific international trade agreements.

Additional trade measures against Brazil
In addition to drug policy changes, Trump introduced a new set of tariffs targeting Brazilian goods. Effective next week, these tariffs will hit a range of products at 25 percent. The U.S. government said the measure follows a 12-month investigation into Brazilian trade practices, which it claimed were unfair or discriminatory to American businesses.
Certain imports are exempt from the new tariffs, including beef, coffee, orange juice, energy-related products, and some aircraft components.
