In the wake of a damaged infrastructure from recent military action, UNRWA has restarted health operations at Beach Camp Health Centre and opened a new medical point in southern Gaza City. The facilities are projected to support almost 100,000 residents in densely populated areas.
UNRWA launched summer learning activities between July 20 and 26. Around 39,509 children participated, including 21,666 girls, 17,843 boys, and 875 children with disabilities. Activities also commenced at the Rehabilitation Centre for the Visually Impaired.
The health centre in western Gaza City had been shut down after damage from the September-October 2025 military escalation. On July 29, a new medical point was opened in southern Gaza City to complement the health services.
Gaza’s humanitarian conditions have worsened, marked by heightened hostilities in the so-called “green zone” west of the Israeli-controlled “yellow line.” The line has moved across multiple areas, including eastern Middle Area, Gaza City, and Khan Younis.
Over the past week, there were evacuation orders and shelter-in-place instructions, with more than ten UNRWA sites damaged. This has strained the humanitarian response in an already fragile situation.
Resource Shortages and Breach in East Jerusalem
A shortage of lubricant oil and spare parts has crippled more than half of UNRWA’s vehicle fleet. The problem also affects 62 water wells, cutting the production and distribution of clean water by 42 percent.
On July 27, Israeli forces and Jerusalem Municipality officials entered the Kalandia Training Centre in East Jerusalem while educational activities were taking place. The site is a United Nations property and protected under international law.
