The essentials

A T-Mobile network failure last week left hundreds of thousands of users across the United States without cell service for seven hours. iPhone users saw their status bars flicker to 'SOS' during the incident. Though the carrier later claimed full service restoration, many customers still faced lingering connectivity issues.

In response, some customers reported receiving credits ranging from $10 to $80 via the T-Mobile customer service app, T-Life. However, the compensation was not automatic. Instead, users had to reach out through support channels to request refunds.

A large Reddit thread saw hundreds of users describing problems placing calls, sending texts, and using data. T-Mobile issued an apology, but no blanket credit offer was made. Customers who wanted compensation had to contact the company directly, according to 9to5Mac.

Those who pursued the matter received bill credits applied to their accounts, with some reporting the maximum of $80, which will remain active for six months. The compensation approach, while not unusual in telecom, has left many users frustrated with the lack of proactive action.

What to Do if You're Affected

For those affected, T-Mobile offers a way to request compensation via the T-Life app. The process is reportedly the fastest method to secure a credit. Users are encouraged to document and share their results to help others navigate the same process.
