Belgium holds $483 billion in US debt. Canada follows with $460 billion. The Cayman Islands rank sixth with $453 billion in positions.
Luxembourg occupies the seventh spot with $434 billion. France holds $390 billion in the eighth position. Ireland and Taiwan round out the top ten with $354 billion and $303 billion respectively.
Lower tier creditors hold significant assets
Switzerland holds $285 billion in US debt. Singapore trails closely with $284 billion. Hong Kong ranks thirteenth with $256 billion in holdings.
Norway holds $203 billion in the fourteenth position. India completes the list with $186 billion. These fifteen entities hold trillions of dollars in total US government debt.
