Sebi launches Demat 2.0 pilot for tokenised corporate bonds

Sebi has launched Demat 2.0, a DLT-based pilot that has facilitated 1,025 crore INR in tokenised corporate bond issuances from REC, L&T, and IIFL. Unveiled jointly by RBI and Sebi leadership at the Global Fintech Fest, the system enables instant settlement via CBDC integration and marks the first time corporate bonds are issued natively on a distributed ledger within a country's regulated statutory depositories.
