Bangladesh Gold Prices Rise 1,050 Taka per Bhori

The Bangladesh Jewellers Association raised 22-carat gold rates to 232,930 taka per bhori, ending a streak of three consecutive price cuts in the local market.
The Bangladesh Jewellers Association increased the price of 22-carat gold by 1,050 taka per bhori. This move reverses three consecutive rounds of price reductions. The new rate for 22-carat gold stands at 232,930 taka per bhori inclusive of VAT. The adjustment took effect at 10 am on Saturday. This is the first price hike following a drop to 231,880 taka per bhori on September 11.
The association cited rising costs for pure gold in the local market as the reason for the change. Prices for other carats also increased. 21-carat gold now costs 222,491 taka per bhori. 18-carat gold is priced at 191,056 taka per bhori. Traditional Sanatan gold is set at 156,064 taka per bhori. All listed prices include value-added tax. Making charges vary based on the specific jewelry design.
Market volatility remains high
Gold prices have been adjusted 115 times in the local market since 2026 began. There were 57 price hikes and 57 cuts during this period. One additional adjustment involved VAT changes. This frequency indicates significant short-term volatility in the sector. The latest hike follows the previous cut of 2,158 taka per bhori. The market has shifted rapidly between increases and decreases.
Silver prices remained unchanged despite the gold adjustment. 22-carat silver continues to sell for 5,016 taka per bhori. 21-carat silver is priced at 4,782 taka per bhori. 18-carat silver costs 4,082 taka per bhori. Sanatan silver is available at 3,091 taka per bhori. Silver rates have been adjusted 69 times so far this year. This includes 35 hikes and 34 cuts. The stability in silver contrasts with the recent movement in gold.
Pricing rules stay consistent
The association maintained its existing rules for ornament exchange and purchase. VAT is included in the sale price and cannot be charged separately. Making charges and stone costs are excluded from the base gold rate. These regulations remain in effect at all jewelry shops. The new rates will apply until further notice. Customers should expect the same structural pricing components as before. Only the base metal price has changed.
The Bangladesh Jewellers Association issued the notice on Saturday morning. The rates are valid immediately for all retail transactions. The shift reflects the current market situation for pure gold. Traders must update their pricing systems accordingly. The previous rates from September 11 are no longer valid. This adjustment aligns local prices with global trends. The market remains active with frequent repricing events. Source: GN auto markets/commodities: gold prices.
