Gold rises 309 rupees as silver drops 735 in futures

Silver futures fell 735 rupees to 2,33,364 per kilogram. The decline represented a 0.31 percent drop in value. Traders reduced their holdings, creating selling pressure. This contrasted with the buying activity seen in the gold market.
MCX turnover reflects activity
Gold contracts recorded a business turnover of 10,209 lots. Silver contracts showed higher volume with 13,394 lots traded. The October gold delivery contract led the gain. The December silver delivery contract led the loss.
Global prices show divergence
International gold futures rose 0.44 percent to 4,387.97 US dollars per ounce. The New York market reflected the domestic upward trend. Silver traded 0.84 percent lower at 64.381 US dollars per ounce. Global silver prices mirrored the domestic decline.
