Silver futures on the Multi Commodity Exchange fell by 568 rupees per kilogram to 2,43,645 rupees. This decline occurred as market participants reduced their exposure to the white metal.

Silver futures on the Multi Commodity Exchange closed lower on Thursday. The price dropped by 568 rupees per kilogram to reach 2,43,645 rupees. This move represents a decrease of 0.23 percent for the December delivery contract.

Trading activity remained modest during the session. The total business turnover for the silver contract was 1,262 lots. Market analysts attributed the price drop primarily to a wave of selling by investors who were cutting their positions.

Global Spot Prices Remain Elevated

In contrast to the local futures decline, silver traded higher in global markets. The metal was up 0.50 percent in New York trading. The spot price stood at 67.63 US dollars per ounce during the session.

Nifty 50 Stocks Show Mixed Results

Equity markets displayed mixed performance alongside the commodity move. Power Grid Corp led the gains in the Nifty 50 index. The stock rose by 5.25 percent to close at 271.10 rupees.

Several other major constituents also posted positive returns. HCL Technologies fell by 1.66 percent to 1,209.40 rupees. HDFC Life Insurance increased by 1.26 percent to 520.50 rupees. Tata Steel declined by 1.21 percent to close at 186.47 rupees.

Market Sentiment Driven by Profit Booking

The divergence between local and global silver prices suggests distinct trading flows. Domestic participants appeared to focus on reducing risk rather than following global spot trends. This behavior aligns with broader profit-booking activity observed in the commodity segment.

Other Nifty 50 stocks reflected this mixed sentiment. Axis Bank rose by 1.01 percent to 1,251 rupees. Hindalco Industries dropped by 1.08 percent to 1,015.80 rupees. ONGC gained 0.94 percent to finish at 236.23 rupees.

The data provided by GN auto markets and commodities highlights the specific drop in silver futures. The decline was sharp relative to the modest trading volume. Investors should note that these figures reflect the closing values for the specific trading day.
