Silver prices in India rose to 2,550 rupees per 10 grams on September 10. This marks a 50-rupee increase from the previous session. The gain equates to a 2 percent rise in the metal's value. The upward move follows three days of flat trading.

GN auto markets/commodities: silver prices data indicates the metal reached 255 rupees per gram. The kilogram rate stands at 2,55,000 rupees. This price point reflects a shift from the earlier tiered pricing structure. Most cities had previously traded at lower levels.

City pricing converges at new level

All ten major Indian cities now price silver at the same rate. Mumbai, Delhi, and Kolkata previously traded at 2,500 rupees per 10 grams. Chennai and Hyderabad held a premium at 2,550 rupees. Thursday’s move eliminated this disparity.

Buyers in the previously cheaper cities now pay the same as those in premium markets. This convergence simplifies the national pricing map. The change aligns local prices with global spot trends. Currency movements also influenced the final rupee cost.

Global demand drives price action

India’s silver market follows international trends closely. Local supply and demand are too small to move prices independently. Global industrial and investment demand sets the baseline. Mining supply levels also impact the global price floor.

Spot silver prices firmed up through Wednesday night. This trend continued into Thursday’s opening trade. The rupee weakened against the dollar during this period. Both factors increased the cost for domestic buyers.

Industrial and investment demand grows

Analysts attribute the rise to reasserting demand in key sectors. Electronics and solar panel manufacturers are significant consumers of the metal. Retail buyers also contribute to volume. Silver remains a more accessible precious metal than gold.

Dealers report steady interest from industrial users. This demand provided support during the previous flat period. It also fueled the recent price advance. Market participants are watching for further gains on Friday.
