Silver Prices Rise to 24,990 Rupees per 100 Grams in Southern India

Silver rates climbed in Southern Indian cities while gold prices remained uniform across major metros.
Silver prices reached 24,990 rupees per 100 grams in Chennai, Hyderabad, and Kolkata. This represents a 500 rupee increase over the rates in Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru. Gold prices remained uniform at 154,080 rupees per 10 grams for 24-karat purity in all six major cities.
Regional silver price divergence
The market shows a clear split between Northern and Southern Indian cities. Delhi and Mumbai recorded silver rates of 24,490 rupees per 100 grams. Bengaluru matched this figure at 24,490 rupees. In contrast, Kolkata, Hyderabad, and Chennai quoted a higher rate of 24,990 rupees per 100 grams. The per-kilogram rate follows this pattern, with Southern cities charging 249,900 rupees compared to 244,900 rupees in the North.
Uniform gold pricing across metros
Gold rates did not vary by city on September 15. The 24-karat price stood at 154,080 rupees per 10 grams in Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Hyderabad, and Chennai. The 22-karat price was 141,390 rupees per 10 grams in Delhi. Other major cities listed the 22-karat rate at 141,240 rupees per 10 grams. This indicates stable bullion trends guiding domestic pricing despite regional demand differences.
Retail jeweller rate comparisons
Leading retailers quoted consistent prices across states. Joyalukkas and Malabar Gold & Diamonds both set the 22-karat rate at 14,010 rupees per gram. Tanishq quoted a slightly higher 22-karat rate of 14,055 rupees per gram. For 24-karat gold, Malabar Gold & Diamonds charged 15,284 rupees per gram, while Tanishq charged 15,333 rupees per gram. Joyalukkas maintained the same 22-karat rate of 14,010 rupees in Andhra Pradesh, Delhi, Gujarat, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Odisha, Punjab, and Tamil Nadu.
