Kazakhstan’s regulated cryptocurrency market reached $10.58 billion in 2025, marking a sharp increase from $320 million in 2023. This surge confirms the country’s entry into the global top ten for Web3 application activity. The growth signals a structural shift in how digital assets are integrated into the national financial system.
User participation expanded to 215,000 individuals, up from 53,000 in 2023, according to The Astana Times. Deputy Minister Gizzat Baitursynov confirmed these figures at a government meeting on September 15. The expansion follows a 2022 pilot program that created the current licensing framework for exchanges.
Workforce Expansion Drives Ecosystem Growth
More than 8,000 specialists received blockchain training through the Solana ecosystem in the past year. Over 2,000 of these individuals earned formal certificates, building a domestic talent pool. One in five certified graduates now works within government bodies, linking public sector operations to digital infrastructure.
Kazakhstan ranks in the global top ten for applications to international Solana hackathons. This metric reflects the practical application of skills gained in local training programs. The country remains the only one in Central Asia with an official Solana representation.
Startups Receive Targeted Financial Support
Fifty-seven Kazakh startups secured grants totaling 121 million tenge, equivalent to $262,000. These funds support technology entrepreneurship and product development within the regulated market. The investment aims to sustain innovation beyond initial pilot phases.
The international Solana Summit attracted over 900 participants from more than 30 countries. Livestreams of the event reached an audience of approximately 4 million people. This visibility reinforces Kazakhstan’s position as a regional hub for digital asset development.
Tokenization Expands Into Real Estate
Kazakhstan launched an exchange-traded fund based on the Solana blockchain in partnership with KASE. National Bank Governor Timur Suleimenov stated plans to tokenize $60 million in real estate projects by 2026. This initiative tests digital assets as a financing source for the broader economy.
A memorandum signed in Hong Kong on June 11 deepens cooperation between Alatau City and the Solana Foundation. These steps connect educational initiatives with direct financial infrastructure. The strategy links startup support with large-scale asset tokenization.
