Ripple Batch V1.1 Upgrade Nears Activation

Ripple confirms that asset managers are actively preparing for the Batch V1.1 upgrade, which is set to activate on the XRP Ledger to enable atomic multi-transaction settlements.
Ripple stated that asset managers are preparing to use the XRP Ledger's Batch V1.1 upgrade. The feature allows up to eight transactions to settle atomically. This means all linked transfers succeed or all fail together.
The upgrade is scheduled to activate shortly after September 29. Activation requires validator support to remain above 80 percent. The current support level is 30 out of 35 tracked validators.
Atomic Settlements For Payment Systems
Batch V1.1 supports delivery-versus-payment transactions. This mechanism links asset transfers to their corresponding payments. It prevents scenarios where one side of a deal settles while the other fails. Exchanges and marketplaces can also process service fees alongside customer payments in a single operation.
Ayo Akinyele, head of engineering at RippleX, confirmed that commercial projects are being built around this feature. He noted that the all-or-nothing execution model is critical for secure asset movement. Specific partner names and launch timings will be shared once the feature is live.
Security Review After Critical Flaw
The original Batch V1.0 version was withdrawn due to a critical security flaw. Researchers found that the signature-validation process could stop checking signatures early. This allowed attackers to include unauthorized transactions from other accounts. The vulnerable code never governed the live ledger because it was not activated.
RippleX redesigned the signing and authorization model in response. They significantly expanded the security review process. The corrected implementation shipped in xrpld version 3.3.0 on August 6. This version is the code currently under validator vote.
Validator Support And Activation Timeline
The activation countdown began on September 15 at 14:06:41 UTC. The feature requires support from at least 28 validators to proceed. Current support stands at 30 validators. The deadline for maintaining this support level is September 29.
Validators can change their votes during the 14-day window. This makes the activation date conditional on sustained support. CoinDesk reported that Ripple expects the upgrade to go live shortly after the deadline if support remains high.
Asset managers ready for Batch V1.1
Ripple has indicated that institutional clients, particularly asset managers, are finalizing preparations to utilize the upcoming Batch V1.1 feature. This upgrade allows up to eight transactions to be grouped into a single atomic operation, ensuring that all linked transfers succeed or fail together to prevent settlement mismatches.
