Robinhood reported $17.5 billion in crypto trading volume for August 2026. The figure represents a 61% increase from July but remains 38% below year-earlier levels.

Robinhood reported $17.5 billion in crypto trading volume for August 2026. The figure represents a 61% increase from July but remains 38% below the level recorded in August 2025. The company released these figures in its monthly operating report published on Thursday.

Bitstamp contributed $10.1 billion to the total August volume. The Robinhood app generated $7.4 billion in trading activity during the same period. Cointelegraph notes that these two platforms drive the majority of the broker’s crypto activity.

Bitstamp drives monthly volume growth

Bitstamp volume rose 53% from July to reach the $10.1 billion mark. However, this figure is 30% lower than the volume recorded a year ago. The exchange was acquired by Robinhood in June 2025.

Trading volume on the Robinhood app increased 72% month-on-month. Despite this rise, app volume dropped 46% compared to August 2025. The app contributed less to the total than Bitstamp in this reporting period.

Quarterly revenue remains under pressure

Crypto transaction revenue fell 38% year-on-year to $100 million in the second quarter. This compares to approximately $160 million in the same period last year. Robinhood attributed the decline to lower market activity in the crypto sector.

Growth in event contracts, options, and equities offset the crypto revenue drop. The company posted record quarterly revenue and earnings as a result. These other business segments provided a strong financial counterbalance to the crypto division.

Exclusions in reported trading data

The August report excludes volume from the Robinhood Chain. This network-based activity is not included in the $17.5 billion total figure. Investors should note that the actual transaction count may be higher when including these excluded channels.
