Robinhood Event Contract Revenue Tops Equities Trading

Robinhood reported $156 million in event contract revenue for the second quarter, surpassing its equities and crypto trading income.
Robinhood Markets generated $156 million in event contract revenue during the second quarter. This figure exceeds the $129 million earned from equities trading and the $100 million from crypto assets. The company reported a tenfold year-over-year increase in this revenue stream.
Customers traded 13.6 billion event contracts in the same period. World Cup-related activity accounted for more than 5 billion of these trades. Cumulative volumes since launch have now surpassed 45 billion contracts. According to GN markets/crypto (en-US), this growth marks a significant shift in the broker's revenue mix.
New Exchange Partnership Expands Liquidity
Robinhood began routing select football event contracts to OG.com on September 8. OG.com is a CFTC-regulated exchange operated by Crypto.com. This partnership adds a new execution venue to the existing network of Kalshi, ForecastEx, and Rothera.
Robinhood will receive minority equity stakes in Crypto.com and OG.com. The valuation aligns with the $20 billion price tag set by Citadel Securities. A broader exchange network aims to improve pricing and expand contract availability for retail users.
Competitors Scale Prediction Market Offerings
Interactive Brokers has built a unified interface across its ForecastEx platform, Kalshi, and CME Group. Orders are routed to the best available net price. The firm plans to add more exchanges and expand into weather-related contracts.
Coinbase Global reported a 106% sequential jump in prediction market revenues. This growth pushed the business above $100 million in annualized revenue. The new crypto-binary experience drove three times as many daily traders compared to May averages.
Regulatory And Competitive Risks Persist
The football seasons and 2026 U.S. midterm elections provide near-term catalysts for trading volume. However, rising competition from rivals could temper the pace of expansion. Regulatory uncertainty remains a key factor for sustained momentum in the sector.
