National Ranking Shifts Downward
Idaho fell two positions to ninth among the most expensive states for fuel. It now trails California, which averages $6.16 per gallon, and Washington at $5.56.
The national average sits at $4.47, which is 16 cents higher than last week. Idaho remains significantly above this national benchmark despite the slower weekly pace.
Crude Oil Volatility Drives Costs
West Texas Intermediate crude oil trades near $95 per barrel after peaking near $106. Ongoing conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East keep supply risks elevated.
AAA Idaho director Matthew Conde notes that market conditions remain unstable. He warns that there is little reason to expect immediate price relief for consumers.
Diesel Prices Spike for Trucks
Idaho diesel prices have climbed to approximately $6.47 per gallon. This represents a massive jump from $3.83 just one year ago.
Local prices vary by city, with Twin Falls at $4.95 and Boise at $4.87. Coeur d’Alene and Lewiston remain the lowest at $4.63 per gallon.
