The state average for regular unleaded has climbed to $4.32 per gallon, marking a sharp weekly increase driven by global supply disruptions.

The average price for regular unleaded gasoline in Michigan has reached $4.32 per gallon. This figure represents a 29-cent increase over the past seven days. The rise is directly linked to volatility in the global crude oil market.

Local stations in Bay City reported prices as high as $4.59 per gallon on Monday. These local figures exceed the state average by 27 cents. The cost increase is not uniform across the state but follows the broader trend of rising fuel costs.

Crude oil prices surge to 100 dollars

Crude oil prices have rebounded to approximately 100 dollars per barrel. This level has not been seen in several months. Prices had previously dipped to around 80 dollars per barrel before the recent spike.

Adrienne Woodland of AAA-The Auto Club Group attributes the fluctuation to global conflict. She noted that the market is reacting to geopolitical instability. The oil market remains highly sensitive to these external pressures.

Saudi pipeline damage extends supply disruption

A major Saudi oil pipeline has been struck in an attack. The east-west pipeline will remain out of service for weeks during repairs. This infrastructure is critical for shifting exports away from the Strait of Hormuz.

The closure adds uncertainty to global supply chains. Iranian attacks have already disrupted shipping in the Persian Gulf. The pipeline repair timeline further complicates the flow of crude oil to international markets.

Drivers advised to consolidate fuel purchases

AAA recommends that consumers shop for the lowest available price. Drivers should plan errands to minimize backtracking. Consolidating stops at a single location can reduce overall fuel consumption.

Participating in fuel saver programs at gas stations is another suggested strategy. These discounts can offset the current price increases. The advice comes from GN auto markets/energy: crude oil prices data tracking.
