GasBuddy surveyed 160 stations in the city to compile this data. The current average marks the highest level since the initial surge in early March. Prices have climbed 41 cents over the last two weeks alone.
Regional and National Price Trends
Utah's statewide average rose 9.8 cents to reach $4.76 per gallon. The national average increased by 18.5 cents to hit $4.44 per gallon. Diesel prices also rose, with the national average jumping 30.7 cents to $6.49 per gallon.
Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, noted broad increases. Forty-five states saw gasoline prices rise by more than 3 cents per gallon. Diesel prices increased in every state, with five seeing gains over 50 cents.
Supply Constraints Drive Costs
Refinery issues in the Great Lakes region significantly impacted regional prices. Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, and Wisconsin all saw increases exceeding 30 cents per gallon. These operational problems tightened local supply and pushed costs higher for consumers.
Global factors further complicate the market outlook. Strikes on Russian oil refineries have tightened global diesel supply. De Haan stated that new Houthi attacks and U.S.-Iran escalations keep the outlook uncertain.
Local Station Price Range
Individual station prices in Ogden varied within a narrow band. The cheapest station sold gasoline at $4.49 per gallon. The most expensive station charged $4.89 per gallon for the same product.
