CSOP Asia AI ETF Launches on HK Exchange with 20.3% Samsung Weighting

Samsung Electronics holds the largest position in the new exchange-traded fund, accounting for over one-fifth of the total portfolio. The product targets critical infrastructure suppliers across the Asia-Pacific region.
The CSOP Solactive Asia AI Bottleneck Index ETF began trading on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange on Thursday. Samsung Electronics is the heaviest holding in the fund. Its weight stands at 20.3 percent of the total index. The product aims to track specific AI infrastructure firms. It targets companies in critical supply chain segments.
TSMC is the second largest constituent with an 18.9 percent allocation. SK Hynix follows with a 16.7 percent share. These three firms dominate the portfolio structure. The fund focuses on Asia-Pacific listed equities. It excludes broad market exposure to non-critical sectors.
Regional Allocation Splits Across Three Markets
The index distributes exposure across three primary markets. Taiwan accounts for approximately 43 percent of the holdings. South Korea represents about 37 percent of the portfolio. Japan makes up the remaining 20 percent. This geographic split reflects the location of major chipmakers. It also includes key equipment manufacturers in the region.
Other notable constituents include MediaTek and Hitachi. Tokyo Electron is also part of the index. These companies provide essential hardware components. They support the broader artificial intelligence infrastructure buildout. The fund offers a concentrated view of this sector.
Initial Trading Shows Modest Price Gains
The ETF closed its first session at HK$7.86. This represents a 0.2 percent increase from the opening price. The fund seeks to mirror the index performance. It does so before deducting fees and expenses. Investors gain direct access to these Asian tech leaders.
The launch adds a new option for regional investors. It targets the specific bottleneck segment of AI hardware. The fund relies on the Solactive Asia AI Bottleneck Index. This index identifies firms with critical market positions. The product provides liquidity for these illiquid stocks.
Index Composition Defines the Strategic Focus
The definition of bottleneck centers on supply chain constraints. These firms hold significant leverage in AI infrastructure. Their output limits the expansion of downstream services. The fund captures this specific economic dynamic. It differentiates itself from general technology baskets.
According to GN auto markets/indices: stock index data, the weighting remains stable at launch. The top three holdings exceed 55 percent of the total. This concentration highlights the dominance of major manufacturers. The fund tracks this specific subset of the market. It prioritizes industrial relevance over broad market breadth.
