The Central Bank of Iran released official exchange rates for September 20. The dollar rose to 1,666,079 rials from 1,663,768 rials on September 19. The euro fell to 1,907,263 rials from 1,913,683 rials the previous day.

Forty-four currencies appreciated against the rial in this update. Only two currencies declined in value. The SANA system for exchange offices adopted these same rates for transactions.

Official Rates Show Mixed Movement

The British pound climbed to 2,231,752 rials. The Swiss franc reached 2,026,495 rials. The Kuwaiti dinar hit 5,403,654 rials, the highest value in the table. The Indonesian rupiah per thousand units rose to 93,812 rials.

The Georgian lari slipped to 639,808 rials from 640,258 rials. The Bangladeshi taka per 100 units dropped to 1,353,314 rials. These are the only two currencies to lose value in the official schedule.

Black Market Premium Persists

Street prices remain significantly higher than official figures. One dollar trades for 2.30 to 2.33 million rials on the black market. One euro commands 2.64 to 2.67 million rials in informal channels. This gap represents a premium of over 35% for the dollar.

The divergence between official and market rates continues to widen. Traders and importers face higher costs in the parallel market. The Central Bank maintains a fixed rate for regulated transactions.

Regional Currencies Track the Dollar

The Azerbaijani manat rose to 979,083 rials. The Turkish lira increased to 34,154 rials. The Russian ruble reached 19,788 rials. These moves reflect the broader appreciation of most global currencies against the rial.

The Japanese yen per 100 units climbed to 1,062,094 rials. The Chinese yuan moved to 248,609 rials. The South Korean won per 1,000 units hit 1,202,743 rials. All these Asian currencies gained value in the September 20 update.
