The average asking rent in Langley reached $2,266 in August. This represents a modest monthly increase. The figure remains below the level recorded in August 2025. Langley moved up one spot to become the 15th most expensive rental market in Canada. It surpassed its previous rank of 16th in July.
One-bedroom units averaged $1,911 in August. This is a 0.6 percent increase from July. The price is down 3.5 percent compared to the same month last year. Two-bedroom units commanded an average of $2,480. This reflects a 0.9 percent rise from the previous month. The year-over-year change for two-bedroom units is a decline of two percent.
National rates remain flat
The national average asking rent was $2,035 in August. This figure is down 4.8 percent from a year earlier. The monthly change nationally was minimal at 0.1 percent. North Vancouver leads the country with an average of $3,036. Vancouver follows at $2,729. Toronto ranks fourth at $2,571.
Several British Columbia cities cost more than Langley. Burnaby and Coquitlam exceed the Langley average. Halifax is also more expensive. Victoria, New Westminster, and Surrey are cheaper. Data focused on condos and apartments places Langley at 17th. This ranking excludes houses and other housing types.

Christine Boyle, Minister of Housing and Municipal Affairs, commented on the data. She cited year-over-year declines as encouraging. The minister stated the trends support affordable housing efforts.
