The grass at Quicksilver Golf Club held its breath on Wednesday. Four Moon Area boys golfers stared down the fairway and met the 81 target. They earned their spots in the WPIAL Class 3A Individual Championships.
The air smelled of cut sod and morning dew. Matthew Koch, Ian Bonidie, Patrick Queen, and Evan Harper each carded scores that cleared the sectional hurdle. Their swings were sharp, their focus absolute. Now, they move to the big stage.
Sharp Swings Clear the Hurdle
Koch led the charge, finishing second overall with a 74. The number glowed in the mind’s eye, a testament to steady nerves. Bonidie followed closely, shooting 76 to take fourth place.
Queen and Harper tied for sixth, both posting 77s. The tie did not matter. Only the cutoff did. All four names now sit on the entry list for the state tournament.

The first round arrives Monday, Sept. 28, at Hannastown Golf Club. The course in Greensburg awaits their feet. It is a new test, a new layout.
