The $9,475 payday pushed him past Dalton Massey’s 2024 mark. Waguespack now sits at $205,876 with nine days remaining before the season ends on September 30.
A tricky start to a fast finish
The cattle in Mandan were unfamiliar, previously used for team roping. Early runs showed chaos, with riders missing steers or breaking barriers. Waguespack focused only on his own animal.
He rode Ice, a horse owned by J.D. Struxness. Kyle Irwin hazed the steer from Bruno. The combination turned an uncertain draw into a defining moment.
Rivals close in the standings
Jesse Brown sits second in the PRCA World Standings. He remains within striking distance of the record. Both cowboys head to Sioux Falls, S.D., for the Governor’s Cup from September 25 to 27.
