Ashley Dyce Targets LA28 with Mexico City Qualification Bid

Ashley Dyce heads to Mexico City this October to compete at the Parapan American Open Championships. She is one of ten USA athletes seeking qualification for the 2028 Los Angeles Paralympic Games.

The road to LA28 is paved with steel and sweat. For Dyce, every lift counts. She wakes each morning with a singular focus: standing on the platform in her home city. The goal is clear. The path is long.

A Decade of Lifting

Dyce joined the powerlifting team in 2016. Before that, she threw shot put and discus. The switch felt right. She has competed at four World Championships and two Parapan American events. Her Paris 2024 finish was eighth in the over 86kg class.

Her first major international meet was in Mexico City in 2017. Now she returns to the same city. The stakes are higher. The timeline is tighter. She needs a strong result to move closer to the Olympic stage.

Consistency Over Motivation

Dyce knows the grind is real. Motivation fades. Crowds vanish. Support wavers. She relies on discipline instead. Good days mix with bad practices. She lifts when she wants to and when she does not. Consistency is the only constant.

Dyce was born in Colton, California. Los Angeles is nearby. Competing on home soil adds weight to her ambition. She is one of two USA athletes with Paris 2024 experience on this squad. The other is Bobby Body. Both aim for 2028.
