Žampa Family Launches Cup Using Four Generations of Ski Expertise

Adam, Andreas, and Teo Žampa are launching the Žampa Cup. This new youth racing event brings together young skiers from several European countries. It stands on four generations of family experience.

The brothers have raced on the World Cup circuit. They competed at the Olympic Games and World Championships. Now they are passing their love of the sport to the next generation.

Roots in the High Tatras

Skiing is woven into the Žampa family history. Their grandfather Karol Bruk and mother Oľga Bruková were competitive skiers. Their father František Žampa also raced before making the High Tatras his home.

Adam started skiing at age five. Andreas followed soon after, sometimes using small wooden skis in summer. Their father Tomáš would sneak Adam out of kindergarten for short training sessions.

Teo joined the family skis at two years and two months. His older brothers took him sledding and brought skis back to the house. He could ski almost immediately after they arrived.

Three Brothers, Three Paths

Each brother developed differently on the slope. Adam built his motivation through junior years as results improved. Andreas was famously detail-oriented, often ready before the family left for the mountain.

Teo grew up around training camps and World Cup venues. He often free skied in places like Alta Badia and Val Gardena. By the time he raced between gates, his technique was already solid.

Supporting the Next Generation

Tomáš credits his wife Slávka for the family’s success. She managed the family business while creating the conditions for the boys to ski. Her work allowed the rest of the family to focus on training.

Adam achieved strong results at the 2013 World Championships in Schladming. He also finished fifth and sixth at the 2014 Olympic Games in Sochi. These achievements highlight the depth of their experience.
