Fluence Energy lowered its fiscal 2026 revenue outlook to $2.4 billion due to manufacturing delays, while Bloom Energy lifted guidance to $4.2 billion.

Key points

  • Fluence Energy cut its fiscal 2026 revenue guidance to $2.4 billion from a previous midpoint of $3 billion.
  • Bloom Energy raised its 2026 revenue guidance to $3.9-$4.2 billion after first-half revenues doubled to $1.8 billion.
  • Fluence projects an adjusted EBITDA loss of nearly $200 million for fiscal 2026, driven by manufacturing delays in Houston.

Fluence Energy (FLNC) and Bloom Energy (BE) issued diverging fiscal 2026 revenue outlooks, highlighting a sharp split in execution capabilities within the alternate energy sector. According to Zacks Investment Research, Fluence cut its guidance to approximately $2.4 billion, while Bloom raised its target to between $3.9 billion and $4.2 billion.

The divergence stems from contrasting operational realities. Bloom Energy benefited from first-half revenues that more than doubled to $1.8 billion, supporting its upward revision. Fluence, conversely, faces significant headwinds that have forced a substantial reduction in its projected annual sales.

Fluence faces manufacturing constraints

Fluence Energy reported a wider-than-expected loss for the third quarter of fiscal 2026, ending June 30, 2026. The company’s earnings per share were negligible, and revenues declined year over year. This marks the second bottom-line underperformance in the last four quarters, with an average earnings miss of 114.5%.

The primary driver for the guidance cut is manufacturing delays at its contract facility in Houston. Fluence now projects an adjusted EBITDA loss of nearly $200 million, a significant deterioration from the earlier forecast of a $10 million loss. Supply-chain challenges are preventing the conversion of strong market demand into completed deliveries.

Bloom Energy expands revenue outlook

Bloom Energy revised its 2026 revenue guidance upward to a range of $3.9 billion to $4.2 billion. This adjustment follows a period where first-half revenues more than doubled to $1.8 billion. The company’s solid oxide fuel cell technology continues to gain traction in data centers and industrial applications.

Bloom’s performance is supported by a robust history of earnings surprises, contrasting with Fluence’s recent misses. The company is positioned to capitalize on demand for low-carbon, on-site electricity generation, allowing it to maintain a stronger financial trajectory compared to its peer.

Operational restructuring addresses delays

In response to the production bottlenecks, Fluence Energy is restructuring its operational organization to improve coordination across supply-chain planning and manufacturing. The company’s contract manufacturing partner has implemented corrective measures that have already contributed to higher daily production levels.

These initiatives are intended to establish a more reliable operating foundation for fiscal 2027. While international supply chains continue to operate effectively, the domestic production delays remain the critical factor limiting revenue recognition for the current period.
