Nordson Corp. delivered a third-quarter fiscal 2026 performance that exceeded market expectations, driven by record sales across all three business segments and significant margin expansion.

Nordson Corp. reported adjusted earnings per share of $3.25 for the third quarter of fiscal 2026, a 19.0% year-over-year increase that topped the Zacks Consensus Estimate by 5.2%. Total revenues reached $817.67 million, rising 10.3% from the prior year and beating consensus estimates by 5.0%. The company attributed this performance to broad organic growth, with record sales achieved in the Industrial Precision Solutions, Medical and Fluid Solutions, and Advanced Technology Solutions segments.

Organic sales increased 11.7% year over year, indicating that core business momentum outweighed headwinds from currency translation and divestitures. Backlog levels expanded by 35% compared to the same period last year, signaling sustained demand. According to GN markets/earnings (en-US), the share price has since declined by 6.9% following the report, underperforming the broader S&P 500 index during the subsequent month.

Regional and Segment Performance

The Asia Pacific region led regional growth with revenues of $293.76 million, up 22.2% year over year. The Americas segment contributed $331.47 million in sales, a 5.4% increase, while Europe added $192.43 million, rising 3.1%. This distribution demonstrates that growth is not concentrated in a single geographic market but is spread across key operating areas.

Advanced Technology Solutions showed the most significant expansion, with revenues surging 28.4% to $219.88 million. This segment benefited from 30.9% organic growth in electronics dispense and test applications. Medical and Fluid Solutions revenues increased 5.0% to $230.54 million, achieving organic growth of 10.6% despite a 5.6% drag from divestitures. Industrial Precision Solutions revenues rose 4.7% to $367.25 million, supported by strength in packaging and industrial coatings.

Margin Expansion and Profitability

Gross profit increased 11.6% to $453.73 million, resulting in a gross margin of 55.5%, an expansion of 70 basis points. Operating profit jumped 18.8% to $223.09 million, while adjusted operating profit rose 12.6% to $225.94 million. The company’s EBITDA increased 10.1% to $262.48 million, maintaining a stable margin of 32%.

Segment-level profitability also improved. Advanced Technology Solutions recorded a record EBITDA of $65.70 million, up 58.1%, with margins improving to 30% from 24%. Medical and Fluid Solutions posted record EBITDA of $88.29 million, holding a 38% margin. Industrial Precision Solutions EBITDA was $129.90 million, with a margin of 35%. Net income rose to $152.85 million from $125.78 million in the prior year.

Cash Flow and Capital Allocation

For the first nine months of fiscal 2026, cash from operating activities increased 10.5% to $570.47 million. Free cash flow rose 13.5% to $530.16 million, with a 144% conversion rate in the third quarter. The company ended the period with $113.43 million in cash and cash equivalents, while long-term debt declined to $1.53 billion from $1.68 billion.

Nordson returned capital to shareholders through $137.38 million in dividends, a 3.3% year-over-year increase. Share repurchases totaled $158.79 million, down 27.2% from the prior-year period. Capital expenditures were $40.31 million, lower than the $49.00 million spent in the same period last year, reflecting a focus on maintaining debt levels while supporting growth.
