Atlantico Energy Metals found 12 rare earth zones and universal gallium presence in its Novo Cruzeiro project.

Key points

  • Atlantico identified twelve rare earth targets at its Novo Cruzeiro project in Brazil.
  • All 114 surface samples contained gallium, with grades between 16 and 72 parts per million.
  • One sample yielded 1,427 ppm total rare earth oxides, including 284 ppm mixed rare earth oxide.

Atlantico Energy Metals Corporation has expanded its exploration footprint in Brazil by identifying twelve distinct rare earth targets at the Novo Cruzeiro project. The company also confirmed the presence of gallium across all surface samples and located a southern target area with lithium indicators. This multi-commodity focus aligns with growing global demand for secure critical mineral supply chains.

According to Mining Weekly, CEO Bonn Smith stated that the project offers multiple avenues for exploration. The company conducted an integrated review combining geochemical data, reconnaissance mapping, satellite imagery, and regional geophysics to pinpoint these areas of interest. This comprehensive approach allowed Atlantico to prioritize specific zones for further investigation.

Rare earth anomalies dominate eastern targets

The eastern section of the project shows strong potential for magnet rare earths, supported by anomalies in neodymium, praseodymium, dysprosium, and terbium. Stream-sediment results in the northeast are guiding exploration toward upstream sources. One specific sample returned a grade of 1,427 parts per million total rare earth oxides, including 284 parts per million of mixed rare earth oxide.

Gallium present in all surface samples

Gallium was detected in weathered granite across the entire sampled area. All 114 surface samples returned gallium grades ranging from 16 to 72 parts per million. Additionally, 96 of these samples, taken in the western area, contained total rare earth oxides grading above 500 parts per million, indicating a broader mineralized zone than initially anticipated.

Southern lithium target requires further testing

A southern target area shows geochemical and geophysical signs of lithium, though it remains a geological interpretation to be tested. Modest intercepts have already been made, with the maximum grade recorded at 71 parts per million. Smith noted that while this is early-stage data, the convergence of multiple critical minerals in one project strengthens its strategic value.
