AuKing Mining (ASX:AKN) has reported significant rare earth mineralization from western step-out drilling at its Tundulu Project in Malawi. The company intersected 72 meters grading 1.51% total rare earth oxides (TREO) from surface in hole 26NH011, confirming the lateral extent of the system beyond the main Nathace Hill target.
According to reports from Mining.com.au, the results indicate a substantial near-surface mineralized system. A second hole, 26NH002, returned 22 meters at 1.5% TREO from surface, with assays pending for the remaining depth where additional carbonatite was logged.
Drill Results Confirm Lateral Extent
Hole 26NH011 was drilled away from the primary target area and still intersected wide intervals of high-grade material. This includes 50 meters at 2.03% TREO and a 20-meter interval grading 4.26% TREO from surface. Managing Director Paul Williams stated that these results require further specific focus and that drilling plans are being formulated for this new area.
The western flank is emerging as a new exploration focus, having received limited historical drilling compared to the eastern side. The intersection of mineralization from surface across multiple step-out holes supports the interpretation that the system is laterally extensive.
Assay Pipeline and Project Scale
AuKing Mining has assayed nearly 1,500 samples to date. Approximately 2,900 additional samples are currently being prepared at Intertek laboratories in Perth and Zambia. Furthermore, more than 1,300 meters of diamond drill core samples are queued for assay, indicating a substantial ongoing data acquisition effort.

The Tundulu project lies within exploration licence EL0731/24, covering approximately 91.5 square kilometers in south-eastern Malawi. It is situated roughly 90 kilometers east of Blantyre.
