The Indian façade specialist opened trading at a premium despite falling short of grey-market expectations.

Glass Wall Systems (India) shares rose 6.6% from the issue price on their debut on the National Stock Exchange. The stock opened at Rs 194 per share, exceeding the fixed IPO price of Rs 182. On the Bombay Stock Exchange, the listing price was Rs 190.10, representing a 4.5% premium over the issue price.

The positive opening followed an initial public offering that raised Rs 427.89 crore during a subscription window from September 8 to 10. The issue was oversubscribed 81.65 times overall. This demand occurred despite the opening price being significantly lower than the Rs 223 indicative level suggested by a Rs 41 grey-market premium prior to the listing.

Institutional and Retail Subscription Breakdown

Qualified institutional buyers drove the highest demand, subscribing 167.93 times for their allotted portion. Non-institutional investors subscribed 79.71 times, while retail investors subscribed 33.18 times. Bidders requested 134.37 crore shares against an offer of 1.64 crore shares. According to GN stocks/ipo, this broad participation across investor categories contributed to the successful completion of the raise.

Anchor investors committed Rs 128.36 crore before the public subscription period began. This allocation included 70.53 lakh shares at Rs 182 each from entities such as HDFC Mutual Fund and Bank of India Mutual Fund. The anchor investment provided early institutional validation for the company’s valuation.

Capital Allocation for Plant Expansion

The IPO comprised a fresh issue of Rs 60 crore and an offer for sale of 2.02 crore shares. The offer for sale, valued at approximately Rs 368 crore, constituted the bulk of the transaction. Promoters Jawahar Hariram Hemrajani and Eshan Jawahar Hemrajani, along with India Business Excellence Fund IIA, sold these existing holdings.

From the fresh capital raised, the company allocated Rs 50 crore to establish a glass-processing facility at its Vile Bhagad plant in Maharashtra. This investment supports backward integration in the manufacturing process. The remaining proceeds will be utilized for general corporate purposes, providing liquidity for operational needs.

Façade Solutions and Global Market Reach

Founded in 2002, Glass Wall Systems provides design, engineering, manufacturing, and installation services for architectural façades and fenestration. The company supplies customized building envelope solutions to clients in India, the United States, and Australia. The listing provides access to public market capital to support these ongoing operations and future growth initiatives.
