Raymond shares hit record high on cotton duty and aerospace push

Raymond Ltd closed at a record high of Rs 1,024, gaining nearly 20% in a single session and 57% over two weeks. The surge was driven by potential regulatory relief on raw cotton costs and a new capital raise for its precision engineering division.
Raymond Ltd posted a significant jump on Friday, closing at an all-time high of Rs 1,024 per share. The stock gained 19.97 percent in the session, adding to a two-week rally that has lifted the share price by 57.08 percent. Trading volume on the Bombay Stock Exchange reached 9.65 lakh shares, far exceeding the recent two-week average of 2.66 lakh shares. This high-activity session resulted in a turnover of Rs 92.51 crore, with the company’s market capitalisation standing at Rs 6,554.52 crore.
The primary driver for this valuation shift appears to be regulatory relief in the textile sector. According to reports from GN stocks/shares-surge, the Indian government is considering extending the customs duty exemption on raw cotton beyond October 31. Such a move would directly lower input costs for manufacturers, providing immediate margin support. For Raymond, a major player in textiles, this potential policy change reduces cost pressure and improves sentiment across the broader industry.
Capital raise supports engineering expansion
Beyond regulatory factors, Raymond approved a specific funding mechanism to bolster its precision engineering division. The company authorized the issuance of 33.29 lakh convertible warrants to Minerva Ventures Fund. Priced at Rs 645 per warrant, this transaction aims to raise up to Rs 214.71 crore. This capital injection is earmarked for expanding the business into aerospace manufacturing, a sector identified as having strong growth potential in India.
Aerospace pivot drives long-term visibility
Strategists view the entry into aerospace manufacturing as a key differentiator for the company’s future earnings. The expansion is expected to provide better order book visibility and earnings stability compared to the cyclical nature of traditional textiles. By diversifying into high-precision industrial sectors, Raymond is positioning itself to capture long-term demand in emerging industries. This structural shift supports the recent price appreciation by offering investors a clearer path for sustained revenue growth beyond short-term commodity price fluctuations.
