Red Mountain Mining finished its initial reverse circulation program at Oaky Creek, submitting 578 samples for lab analysis.

Key points

  • Red Mountain Mining completed 20 drill holes totaling 1,776 meters at the Oaky Creek prospect in New South Wales.
  • 578 one-meter sample intervals were submitted to Intertek for multielement and gold analysis, with results due by mid-November.
  • Surface sampling previously indicated antimony levels up to 39.3% and gold up to 1.09 ppm, defining a 3-kilometer system.

Red Mountain Mining Limited completed its first reverse circulation drilling campaign at the Oaky Creek prospect. The site is located west of Armidale in New South Wales. The company finished 20 holes totaling 1,776 meters. This work targeted four priority zones defined by previous surface sampling. The program concludes the initial phase of this exploration effort.

The drilling focused on antimony and gold potential within the Armidale project. Red Mountain used a portable XRF instrument to screen samples on-site. This method helped prioritize specific intervals for detailed laboratory testing. The company aims to confirm the extent of the mineral system. Results from this phase will guide future exploration decisions.

Drilling program targets four priority zones

The company drilled ten holes into the Oaky Creek South Main Grid. This area showed high antimony levels in soil samples. Three holes tested beneath historical workings at Oaky Creek North. Another three targeted the South Workings area. Four holes tested a creek exposure north of the North Workings.

A fifth target was skipped because crops were present in the ground. This made drilling inaccessible at that specific location. The drilled zones were selected based on surface geochemical data. Red Mountain had previously reported rock chip results up to 39.3% antimony. These figures indicate a potential large-scale vein system.

Sample processing and assay timeline

Field teams selected 578 one-meter intervals from 19 of the 20 holes. These samples represent 32.5% of the total drilling length. They were submitted to Intertek for multielement analysis. Gold content will be measured using fire assay. This rigorous process ensures accurate data for interpretation.

Assay results are expected by mid-November. Red Mountain will interpret these results upon receipt. The company will then plan the next stage of exploration. This includes work at Oaky Creek and the broader Armidale project. The 391-square-kilometer project area remains the focus of current activities.

Geological context of Oaky Creek prospect

Oaky Creek features quartz-carbonate-stibnite veins in folded rock layers. These layers include metamorphosed mudstone and siltstone. Historical pits and shafts mark the North and South areas. The prospect is part of the Southern New England Orogen. This region is considered Australia's premier antimony province.

Previous soil sampling defined a 1.5-kilometer long antimony anomaly. The anomaly is 100 to 200 meters wide. It trends north-northwest of the historical workings. A similar 1-kilometer anomaly was found to the south. These surface indicators supported the current drilling strategy.
