Kabra Extrusion hit its lower circuit as broad Indian indices fell, dragging down solar, battery, and renewable power equities on September 15, 2026.

Indian equity markets experienced significant downside on September 15, 2026, with the S&P BSE Sensex dropping 1.04% to close at 74,003.82. The Nifty 50 index followed suit, declining 0.96% to finish at 23,172.35. This broader weakness extended into the clean energy sector, where most listed companies in the renewable power, battery, and electric mobility ecosystem ended the session in negative territory.

Selling pressure was concentrated among solar manufacturers and equipment suppliers, reflecting a cautious investor stance. According to data from GN auto stocks and energy-stocks: solar stocks, the decline was broad-based, affecting both large-cap energy transition leaders and smaller-cap renewable developers. The session highlighted persistent volatility in the green energy segment despite the lack of specific new corporate guidance.

Solar Manufacturers Face Steepest Losses

Kabra Extrusion recorded the most significant decline among tracked green energy stocks, falling 10.00% to approximately Rs 650.85 on the NSE. The stock hit its lower circuit limit, indicating extreme selling pressure. Other solar and glass manufacturers also saw sharp drops, with Borosil Renewables declining 6.08% to Rs 465.50 and Insolation Energy falling 6.53% to Rs 86.91.

Websol Energy continued this trend, closing 4.27% lower at Rs 72.60. These figures reflect a direct impact on the manufacturing side of the renewable energy supply chain. The magnitude of these losses suggests that investors are de-risking from smaller-cap solar exposure during periods of market stress, prioritizing liquidity over sector-specific growth narratives.

Major Energy Firms Also Decline

Large-cap companies central to India's energy transition also recorded notable losses. Adani Green Energy declined 2.29% to Rs 1,252.00, while Reliance Industries fell 1.47% to Rs 1,239.00. Larsen & Toubro dropped 2.26% to Rs 3,841.80, and NTPC Green Energy ended the day 1.25% lower at Rs 85.85.

Tata Power demonstrated relative resilience, with shares slipping only 0.32% to Rs 363.50. In the electric mobility and battery segment, Olectra Greentech fell 2.47% to Rs 1,179.60. Battery manufacturers Amara Raja Energy & Mobility and Exide Industries declined 1.77% and 1.07%, respectively. These moves indicate that the sell-off was not limited to pure-play solar stocks but affected the broader energy infrastructure complex.

Limited Gains in Renewable Sector

Despite the widespread decline, a small number of stocks managed to post positive returns. EKI Energy Services gained 0.5%, while Juniper Green Energy stood out with a 2.43% rise, closing at Rs 265.35 on the NSE. These isolated gains were insufficient to offset the broad-based selling pressure observed across the renewable power and battery segments.

The session underscored the continued volatility in India's green energy market. Investors maintained a defensive posture, leading to reduced trading volumes and price corrections in key renewable equities. The lack of significant positive catalysts contributed to the cautious approach, with market participants focusing on downside protection rather than aggressive accumulation.
