Amotech and Samwha Capacitor lead a sector-wide rally as AI server and automotive electronics demand accelerates.

Korean multilayer ceramic capacitor (MLCC) manufacturers experienced significant price appreciation on the KOSDAQ market, driven by expectations of sustained demand growth from artificial intelligence infrastructure and advanced automotive electronics. The sector's performance was highlighted by Amotech, which reached its daily trading limit at 15,130 won, marking a 29.98% increase from the previous close. This sharp gain reflects a broader shift in investor sentiment toward components essential for high-performance computing and autonomous driving systems.

Other major players in the supply chain also recorded substantial gains, indicating a consolidated move across the industry. Samwha Capacitor rose 19.79% to 1,386,000 won, while Korchip advanced 11.40% to 21,500 won and HanChem climbed 10.35% to 8,530 won. The rally extended to secondary suppliers, with AVATEC up 9.38%, HanWool Semiconductor gaining 6.90%, and GIS rising 4.49%, suggesting that the demand cycle is affecting the entire production ecosystem for these passive components.

Shift in Primary Customer Base

The underlying driver for this price action is a structural change in the customer base for MLCCs. According to IBK Securities, the primary demand source is transitioning from automotive electronics in the previous year to AI applications in the current period. This shift indicates that the growth trajectory for these components is now being propelled by data center expansion and AI server requirements rather than solely by the gradual adoption of electric and hybrid vehicles.

Optical Network Revenue Expansion

Analysts at IBK Securities noted that while core MLCC sales are growing steadily, the segment related to optical networks is expected to see rapid acceleration. This specific sub-sector is critical for AI connectivity, and its growth is projected to outpace traditional MLCC lines. The firm highlighted that companies such as Marvell and Coherent are positioned to lead this outcome, implying that the supply chain for high-speed optical interconnects is becoming a key revenue driver for upstream component makers.

Sustained Growth in AI Infrastructure

The consensus within the securities industry is that demand for MLCCs will continue to expand as the AI industry accelerates. This view is supported by the rising market share of autonomous driving technologies, which require high-density capacitor integration. The reported figures suggest that the business model for these manufacturers is diversifying, with revenue increasingly tied to the scaling of AI data centers rather than relying exclusively on the automotive sector's production volumes.
