Lam Research stock slid to $299.96 as investors locked in gains following a fiscal year marked by 30% revenue growth and a significant dividend increase.

Lam Research shares declined by 5.03 percent to close at USD 299.96 on September 10, 2026, marking a sharp reversal after a sustained period of price appreciation. The stock traded within a narrow range between USD 314.52 and USD 299.11 on elevated volume, reflecting a shift from accumulation to distribution among market participants. This pullback occurred despite the company reporting its third consecutive record quarter, with the decline driven primarily by valuation compression rather than fundamental deterioration.

The drop follows a significant run-up in the share price, which remains up approximately 173 percent over the trailing twelve months. Investors appear to be rebalancing portfolios after the company’s recent financial disclosures confirmed strong demand trends. The immediate pressure on the stock price highlights a disconnect between the company’s operational successes and the market’s current appetite for high-multiple semiconductor equipment names.

Record fiscal quarter drives margin expansion

Lam Research reported fourth-quarter fiscal 2026 revenue of USD 6.72 billion, a 30 percent increase year over year that exceeded analyst consensus estimates of USD 6.66 billion. Non-GAAP earnings per share rose 37 percent to USD 1.82, surpassing the expected USD 1.69. The company’s non-GAAP operating margin expanded to 38.4 percent from 34.4 percent in the same period last year, indicating improved efficiency in converting top-line growth into bottom-line profit.

The company has returned more than USD 5 billion to shareholders in fiscal 2026 through a combination of dividends and share repurchases. On August 27, 2026, management raised the quarterly dividend by 27 percent to USD 0.33 per share from USD 0.26. This increase implies an annualized payout of USD 1.32 per share, signaling confidence in the durability of cash flow generation from its core equipment business.

AI demand supports gross margin targets

Management attributed the financial performance to robust demand in artificial intelligence and memory-related equipment sectors. During the Goldman Sachs Communacopia plus Technology Conference, executives noted that the Customer Support and Product Group generated nearly USD 2.5 billion in revenue, driven by new product adoption and favorable pricing actions. This segment strength contributed to a gross margin of 52 percent, the highest level achieved by the company in two decades.

Looking ahead, Lam Research guided for gross margins to remain in the 51 to 52 percent range, suggesting that current profitability levels are sustainable. The company’s ability to maintain these margins while scaling revenue positions it to continue delivering strong operating results. The forward outlook underscores that the current demand environment remains supportive for the semiconductor equipment supplier, even as the stock adjusts to reflect higher valuations.
