MEXC Stock Futures Volume Jumps 130% on Semiconductor Demand

MEXC reported a 130% surge in August stock futures trading, driven by broadened interest in U.S. and Korean memory chips and semiconductor ETFs.
MEXC announced that trading volume across its stock, index, and ETF futures contracts increased 130% month-over-month in August. The exchange also reported a 35% expansion in available contracts, bringing the total to over 400 listings. This growth coincided with a 30% rise in spot trading volume for tokenized stocks and ETFs, indicating a broad-based increase in activity across the company's TradFi offerings.
The surge in trading activity was primarily driven by the memory and semiconductor sectors. Five of the top ten stock futures by volume tracked memory and storage companies, signaling a shift from concentrated single-asset trading to broader sector participation. This diversification reflects a change in trader behavior, with increased engagement in both individual equities and leveraged exchange-traded funds.
Memory Sector Leads Volume Growth
SKHYNIX emerged as the top individual stock futures listing, with trading volume rising approximately 401% month-over-month. Micron (MU) ranked third, posting a 267% increase. Combined trading volume for Korean market-related futures, including SKHY, SAMSUNG, and KORU, surged 348%, raising their share of total stock futures volume from 14% in July to 27% in August. Conversely, SanDisk (SNDK) saw its market share decline from 25% to 11%, despite continued volume growth, as trading dispersed across more instruments.
Semiconductor ETFs Drive Sector Rotation
Trading activity expanded significantly into leveraged semiconductor products. SOXL Stock Futures, which tracks a 3x daily long exposure ETF, saw volume surge 1,192%, jumping from less than 4% to 20% of total stock futures volume. SOXS, the inverse leveraged counterpart, recorded 436% growth. In contrast, SPX500 futures, tracking the S&P 500, declined 32%, indicating a strategic shift from broad-market indices toward specific sector exposure. Tesla (TSLA) and SpaceX (SPCX) also posted volume increases of 784% and 45%, respectively, highlighting continued interest in electric vehicles and commercial space.
Tokenized Stocks Show Broad Participation
Spot trading for tokenized stocks and ETFs grew 30%, with the segment’s share of total TradFi spot volume rising to 73%. Approximately 99% of existing listings recorded higher volumes, and the top ten assets accounted for only 12% of total volume, confirming broad-based demand rather than concentration. Circle (CRCL) led this segment with 69% growth, while Nebius (NBIS) posted the highest growth rate at 188%. MEXC noted that 11% of August stock futures volume occurred on weekends, demonstrating demand for trading access outside standard market hours.
