Ark Invest Adds Archer, Robinhood, Cerebras Amid Market Dips

Cathie Wood's Ark Invest executed purchases in three high-volatility stocks this week, targeting companies trading significantly below their recent peaks.
Ark Invest, led by CEO Cathie Wood, expanded its holdings in Archer Aviation, Robinhood Markets, and Cerebras Systems during the shortened trading week leading up to the Labor Day holiday. According to data reported by GN stocks/nasdaq, the fund added to existing positions in all three companies on Tuesday. These acquisitions occur while the respective shares trade at steep discounts to their recent highs, with Archer down 60%, Robinhood down 48%, and Cerebras down 24% from their peak valuations.
The moves reflect a strategy to capitalize on short-term volatility in high-growth sectors. Wood has been active in recent weeks, shifting from a seller in Robinhood during the summer months to a buyer over the last two trading days. The fund’s portfolio adjustments aim to optimize exposure to electric aviation, digital asset trading, and specialized computing hardware, sectors that have faced significant price corrections in the second half of the year.
Archer Aviation Targets Future Revenue Scale
Archer Aviation presents a stark contrast between current financials and long-term projections. The company reported trailing twelve-month revenue of only $6.9 million, yet commands a market capitalization of $4.5 billion. This valuation disconnect is driven by its position as a leading developer of electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft. The company has secured partnerships with commercial and military entities and is contracted to serve as the official air taxi provider for the Los Angeles Olympic Games.
Financial forecasts indicate a rapid expansion in top-line growth. Analysts project revenue to rise from $15 million in 2026 to $1.39 billion by 2029. The company’s balance sheet supports this trajectory, holding sufficient cash to reduce its enterprise value to $3.1 billion. Despite trading below its $10 IPO price, the clean balance sheet and emerging market for short-range urban air mobility provide a foundation for future operational scaling.
Robinhood Sees Mixed Revenue Growth Signals
Robinhood Markets experienced a rebound in second-quarter revenue, which increased 32% year-over-year. This growth reversed the 15% increase recorded in the previous quarter, which had been the company’s weakest performance in over three years. The improvement was supported by higher cryptocurrency prices and increased activity in stock and options markets. Recent strategic moves into futures and predictive markets are designed to engage its younger, tech-focused user base.
Despite these positive indicators, forward-looking estimates remain cautious. Analysts are bracing for only 7% revenue growth in the current quarter. If realized, this would mark the company’s slowest top-line expansion since late 2022. Ark Invest’s repeated purchases in the last two days signal confidence in the platform’s long-term utility, even as short-term growth rates moderate from their historical peaks.
Cerebras Navigates Post-IPO Volatility
Cerebras Systems has exhibited significant price volatility since its public debut four months ago. The stock has more than doubled from its initial pricing at various points, though it currently trades just above its $185 IPO price. This fluctuation reflects the market’s ongoing assessment of the specialized computing hardware company. Ark Invest’s decision to add to its position suggests an interest in the company’s long-term hardware capabilities despite the near-term price instability.
