Ola Electric Mobility shares climbed 9% on Thursday, reversing a three-day decline as trading volumes spiked to third place on the NSE. The move followed the announcement of a narrower quarterly loss and the launch of a new dealer-led retail network in key Indian states.

Ola Electric Mobility shares reversed a three-day losing streak on Thursday, climbing 9% to close at ₹40.51 on the National Stock Exchange. The stock closed 8.6% higher than the previous day's closing price of ₹37.31, marking a significant rebound for the electric two-wheeler manufacturer. According to data reported by GN stocks/shares-surge, the company ranked third in trading volume among NSE-listed stocks, trailing only Vodafone Idea and PC Jewellers.

Heavy activity on the counter drove the price action, with 179.9 million shares changing hands by the time of the latest market updates. This surge in liquidity coincided with recent corporate disclosures regarding the company's operational performance and strategic distribution shifts. The sharp intraday movement suggests heightened investor focus on the firm's ability to convert its expanded sales network into profitable growth, despite ongoing margin pressures from raw material costs.

Q1 FY27 Loss Narrows Amid Revenue Drop

The company reported a net loss of ₹336 crore for the first quarter of fiscal 2026-27, a significant improvement from the ₹428 crore loss recorded in the same period a year earlier. This reduction in losses was attributed to higher electric two-wheeler sales volumes and disciplined management of operating expenses. However, the positive bottom-line trend masked a substantial top-line contraction, with revenue from operations falling approximately 45% year-on-year to ₹455 crore.

Despite the revenue decline and rising input costs for copper, aluminium, lithium, and plastics, Ola Electric maintained a gross margin of 30.5%. The company indicated that the combination of volume growth and expense control was sufficient to offset the impact of higher material prices. This margin stability is a critical metric for investors, as it demonstrates the company's ability to preserve profitability per unit even in a challenging commodity price environment.

Dealer Network Expansion Deepens Regional Reach

To support future sales growth, the company announced the activation of its first wave of dealer-led stores. These new outlets have opened in key regional markets including Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Bihar, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh. The shift toward a partner-led distribution model is designed to enhance local market penetration and improve customer accessibility across these geographies.

Management stated that this transition enables faster customer response times and stronger presence in areas where direct brand presence was previously limited. By leveraging local dealer infrastructure, Ola Electric aims to address specific local demand patterns for its scooters. This strategic move underscores the company's effort to broaden its customer base beyond urban centers, relying on established local networks to drive volume and support the recovery in revenue growth.
