Vertiv Lifts 2026 Outlook on AI Demand

Vertiv Holdings reported a 24% surge in quarterly sales and raised its full-year targets, driven by accelerating demand for data center infrastructure.
Vertiv Holdings Co (VRT) delivered its strongest quarterly performance to date, reporting second-quarter net sales of $3.27 billion, a 24% increase year-over-year. The Westerville, Ohio-based infrastructure provider achieved this growth through intensified demand for artificial intelligence and data center solutions. Adjusted operating profit climbed 51% to $738 million, while adjusted diluted earnings per share rose 60% to $1.52. This financial expansion reflects the company's strategic focus on high-growth digital infrastructure segments, including power and thermal management systems.
Operational efficiency played a critical role in the quarter's results, with adjusted operating margin expanding by 410 basis points to 22.6%. Cash generation improved markedly, as operating cash flow surged 241% to $1.1 billion and adjusted free cash flow increased 234% to $925 million. These metrics indicate that Vertiv is effectively converting top-line growth into tangible financial resources, strengthening its balance sheet and capacity for future investments in product development and global expansion.
Full-Year Targets Raised Significantly
Following the strong quarterly report, management raised its full-year 2026 financial guidance. The company now projects total sales between $13.8 billion and $14.2 billion, representing organic growth of 30% to 32%. Adjusted diluted earnings per share are expected to fall within the range of $6.65 to $6.75. For the third quarter specifically, Vertiv forecasts adjusted EPS of $1.77 to $1.83, with revenue growth estimated at 43% to 48%. These revised figures underscore management's confidence in sustained demand from enterprise and hyperscale customers.
Stock Performance Lags Recent Momentum
Despite the robust fundamental results, Vertiv shares have faced recent pressure. The stock has declined 26.6% from its 52-week high of $379.93 and has fallen 3.2% over the past three months. During the same three-month period, the Nasdaq Composite rose 2.6%, meaning Vertiv lagged the broader market index. According to GN stocks data, the shares have traded below their 50-day moving average since June, indicating a period of consolidation following an earlier surge.
On a longer time horizon, Vertiv continues to outperform its benchmark. Year-to-date, VRT shares are up 73%, significantly exceeding the Nasdaq Composite's 13.3% gain. Over the past 52 weeks, the stock has climbed 123.2%, compared to the index's 20.4% increase. Vertiv also outpaced its peer Hubbell Incorporated, which gained only 3.5% year-to-date and 5.1% over the last year. This divergence highlights Vertiv's specific exposure to the high-growth data center sector, which has driven substantial value creation for shareholders despite recent volatility.
