iQOO Unveils Thin Gaming Tablet Rival
A new tablet from iQOO promises a thin profile and active cooling, positioning it as a direct competitor to established gaming devices like the Lenovo Legion Tab.
iQOO has begun revealing the design specifications of its upcoming Pad Ultra, a gaming tablet intended to challenge the dominance of existing rivals in the mobile market. The device is scheduled to launch alongside the company’s next flagship smartphone, bringing a focus on physical engineering rather than just raw processing power.
The most significant hardware detail confirmed so far is the inclusion of a built-in active cooling fan. For a tablet, this is an unusual feature that suggests a priority on sustained performance. However, this engineering choice comes with trade-offs in weight and thickness that users must consider when comparing it to standard productivity tablets.
Active Cooling Meets Thin Design
According to reports from GN technics/gaming, the Pad Ultra features a cooling system with a heat dissipation area of 1,661 square millimeters. The Pad Ultra is set to feature an 8.8-inch OLED display, making it a direct size match for the Lenovo Legion Tab Gen 5. The move to OLED technology is a significant upgrade over the LCD panels found in many competitors, offering better contrast and color accuracy. This positions the iQOO device as a serious contender against the RedMagic Astra 2, which also prioritizes display quality for gaming.
In terms of weight, the new tablet is listed at 298 grams. This is lighter than both the Lenovo and RedMagic alternatives, which weigh around 360 grams.
