NVIDIA Driver 616.92 Fixes Flickering and Adds New Game Support
NVIDIA has released a new driver update that resolves recent display issues and adds support for several upcoming titles, including a major upgrade for PUBG.
NVIDIA has released GeForce driver version 616.92, a patch that addresses the display flickering and black screen issues that plagued users of last week's update. According to reporting from GN technics/gaming (en-US), this release officially incorporates the fixes that were previously only available through a temporary hotfix. This means users no longer need to rely on separate emergency patches to stabilize their systems.
Beyond repair work, the update introduces Game Ready support for new titles like 007 First Light and WARDOGS. It also brings significant graphics improvements to PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS. For players, this update is less about raw power and more about stability and enhanced visual fidelity in specific games.
Stability Fixes for Display Issues
The previous driver, version 616.56, caused intermittent browser flickering and prevented virtual displays from being created. It also led to black screens during Remote Desktop sessions. NVIDIA responded quickly with a hotfix, and these solutions are now baked into the standard 616.92 release. This consolidation simplifies the update process for users who experienced these disruptions.
New Titles Get Graphics Support
The driver adds support for 007 First Light, which is set to receive a path tracing update on September 15. This update will leverage DLSS 4.5 Ray Reconstruction to improve lighting and shadows. WARDOGS, launching in Early Access on September 10, will also be supported with DLSS 4.5 Super Resolution and Dynamic Multi-Frame Generation.
PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS is gaining DLSS Super Resolution support on the same date. Players can use the NVIDIA App to override the game's default settings and access newer DLSS models. This potentially offers better performance and image quality, though it requires manual configuration to take full advantage of the new features.
