The source, a leaker with a strong track record, claims AT2 will be the only new GPU from AMD or NVIDIA in 2027. Other releases are reportedly delayed until 2028. This makes the chip a critical update for gamers and creators this year.
Hardware specs show significant upgrades
The AT2 chip reportedly features 70 compute units. That is six more than the 64 units in the RX 9070 XT. This represents a 9.375% increase in raw processing power on paper.
Clock speeds are also higher, targeting between 3.1 and 3.4 GHz. These figures are 4.3% to 14.4% faster than the current model. When combined, these changes predict a speed increase ranging from 14% to 25.1%.
Console links and AI capabilities
Microsoft's upcoming Project Helix console is rumored to use 68 of the 70 available compute units. This closely links the PC hardware to next-generation Xbox consoles. It suggests a shared hardware foundation for both platforms.
Other reports indicate the AI rendering hardware could match RTX 5080-class performance. This claim comes from a different source and remains unconfirmed by AMD. It highlights the focus on artificial intelligence workloads in the new design.
