Apple has released new repairability data indicating that the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are slightly easier to repair than the iPhone 17 Pro models. The information was disclosed in a product information sheet mandated by European Union energy labeling regulations, which require manufacturers to self-assess their devices across several technical categories. According to MacRumors, the overall repairability index rose from 3.04 to 3.14 on a scale of zero to five, marking a modest improvement in the device's serviceability.
Despite the numerical increase, the practical implications for repair professionals are limited. Both the previous and current generation of Pro models are classified as class C on the EU’s A-to-E energy label scale, suggesting that the fundamental structural challenges of opening and servicing these phones have not been significantly resolved. The slight bump in the score reflects minor adjustments in design rather than a structural overhaul that would make repairs substantially faster or cheaper for third-party shops.

The most notable change in the new data is in the category of tools, where the score increased by 0.50 points, rising from 2.05 to 2.55. Independent shops will still face the same constraints regarding part sourcing and the duration of official software backing, which can affect the long-term viability of repairing older devices rather than replacing them.
