Amazfit Bip 5 Balances Large Display with Week-Long Battery Life

The new Amazfit Bip 5 targets users who want a clear screen and extended battery life without the daily charging ritual of premium smartwatches.
Amazfit has introduced the Bip 5, a smartwatch designed to sit comfortably between basic fitness trackers and full-featured smartwatches. The device features a 1.91-inch touchscreen and a battery that lasts up to 10 days under typical usage. According to coverage from GN auto tech/wearables: fitness tracker, the watch aims to serve buyers who need reliable health monitoring and clear information without the anxiety of a dying battery by lunchtime.
The watch runs on Zepp OS and supports Bluetooth calling, allowing users to take calls directly from their wrist. It is rated IP68 for water resistance, which means it can handle rain and splashes at depths up to 1.5 meters. However, it is not certified for heavy swimming or diving, a specific limitation for active water sports enthusiasts.
Display clarity meets lightweight design
The central feature of the Bip 5 is its 1.91-inch color display. With a resolution of 320 by 380 pixels and 260 pixels per inch, the screen offers sharper text and graphics than previous models in the series. This increase in size and clarity makes it easier to read notifications and health data at a glance.
Despite the larger screen, the watch remains light at approximately 26 grams without the strap. The physical dimensions measure 45.94 by 38.09 by 11.2 millimeters. This combination of a large visual area and low weight helps maintain comfort during all-day wear, reducing the feeling of bulk on the wrist.
Health metrics and workout tracking
The device continuously monitors heart rate and estimates VO2 Max to assess cardiorespiratory fitness. It also measures blood oxygen saturation using an optical sensor on the back of the case. Users can track sleep phases and stress levels, providing a consolidated view of daily recovery and physical workload.
For active users, the Bip 5 supports over 120 sports modes, including running, cycling, and treadmill exercises. It includes integrated GPS with multi-system support, allowing users to track outdoor activities without carrying a smartphone. This independence is a significant advantage for runners who prefer minimal gear, though it does consume more battery power.
Battery performance and software limitations
The 300 mAh battery is rated for up to 10 days of typical use, 5 days of heavy use, and 26 days in battery saver mode. This longevity contrasts with many smartwatches that require daily charging. To recharge, the watch uses a magnetic cable that takes about two hours to reach full capacity.
The software experience includes Amazon Alexa integration and over 70 customizable watch faces. While the feature set is robust for the price, the IP68 water resistance rating is a trade-off. It protects against dust and shallow immersion but does not meet the 5 ATM standard required for serious swimming, limiting its utility for aquatic sports.
